DESCRIPTION: Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades' is another beautiful variety of Anemone blanda, highly appreciated for its enchanting range of blue tones. Like 'Charmer,' it is a low-growing plant that blooms early in spring and naturalizes easily, creating charming carpets of color. What Makes Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades' Special: Distinctive Features: Flowers: The main feature of 'Blue Shades' is its variety of blue hues. Each flower can display different shades, ranging from light lavender-blue to deeper blue, often with violet tinges and a bright yellow center of stamens. This blend of blues creates a very attractive and dynamic visual effect. The flowers have a daisy-like shape and reach about 3–4 cm in diameter. Blooming: It flowers in spring, generally around the same time as 'Charmer' (March–April), bringing a fresh and lively touch of color after the winter months. Growth Habit: Like other Anemone blanda, it has a compact, ground-covering habit. It grows up to about 10–15 cm tall and gradually spreads, forming beautiful patches of color in the garden. Foliage: The leaves are finely divided, green in color, and form a delicate base for the colorful flowers. Naturalization: 'Blue Shades' is also known for its ability to naturalize easily. When planted in suitable conditions, it will multiply and return to bloom every year, creating a natural, spontaneous effect ideal for areas under trees or shrubs. Hardiness: It is generally cold hardy (typically USDA zones 5–9) and shows good resistance to deer and rabbits. Versatility: Perfect for borders, rock gardens, flower beds, under trees and shrubs, and also in containers to enjoy its delicate blue shades up close. Cultivation and Care: The cultivation and care requirements of Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades' are very similar to those of 'Charmer': Exposure: Prefers full sun or partial shade. In hot climates, some light shade during the hottest hours can be beneficial. Soil: Requires well-drained, fertile soil, preferably slightly alkaline or neutral. Avoid heavy clay soils that may cause waterlogging. Planting: Tubers should be planted in autumn at about 5 cm deep and spaced 5–10 cm apart. Soaking them in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting can help encourage germination. Watering: Water regularly during the growing season, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering after flowering when the foliage begins to die back. Fertilizing: Generally, heavy fertilization is not necessary. A light feeding with a balanced fertilizer in early spring can be helpful. Pruning: Remove spent flowers for a tidier appearance, but allow the foliage to die back naturally so the plant can store energy for the next season. Dormancy: After flowering, the plant enters a summer dormancy period. During this time, reduce watering. The plant will re-emerge the following spring. Propagation: Propagated by dividing the tubers during dormancy or by seed (although plants grown from seed may not be identical to the parent plant).

PACKAGE: The package contains 20 bulbs of Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades'. The bulbs have a circumference of 5/6 cm (about 2 cm in diameter). The packaging features a beautiful illustrative photo and includes planting and flowering information, making it an excellent gift idea.

HOW TO GROW: The tubers should be planted in autumn, at about 5 cm (2 inches) deep and approximately 5 cm (2 inches) apart, in full sun or partial shade, either in pots or directly in the ground. Soaking them in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting can help encourage germination. Plant the tubers between September and December. Flowering will occur between March and May.

SELECTION AND QUALITY: The bulbs come with a phytosanitary passport and undergo a strict quality control process to ensure splendid blooms from the first year.
