Hedera helix, commonly known as English Ivy, is a classic and versatile climbing plant valued for its lush foliage and ability to bring greenery to both indoor and outdoor spaces. Supplied in a 15 cm pot with a height of approximately 65 cm, it’s perfect for quickly covering walls, trellises, fences, or creating hanging displays and green backdrops.
English Ivy features attractive, glossy, lobed leaves in rich shades of deep green, sometimes with lighter veins that add depth and texture. The plant is evergreen, meaning it retains its leaves year-round, providing continuous color and structure in the garden or home. In late summer and autumn, mature plants may produce small, greenish-yellow flowers that are modest in appearance but rich in nectar, attracting bees and other pollinators. These are followed by small, blackish berries.
Hedera helix is a hardy and easy-to-grow climber that thrives in a wide range of conditions — from full sun to deep shade. It prefers moist, well-draining soil and benefits from occasional watering, especially in dry or very warm weather. Once established, it is highly resilient and low-maintenance. The plant climbs using small aerial rootlets, so it doesn’t require support wires, and it has no thorns, making it easy to handle.
Note: The leaves and berries of English Ivy can be toxic if ingested and may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals, so it’s best kept out of reach of pets and children.
With its evergreen beauty, adaptability, and dense, elegant growth, Hedera helix is a timeless choice for adding natural charm, texture, and vertical greenery to any space.
