DESCRIPTION: Muscari armeniacum belongs to the Liliaceae family. It is a perennial bulbous plant that is highly valued for its spikes of small, bell-shaped blue flowers grouped in dense inflorescences that bloom in spring. The leaves are filiform—very thin and elongated—and begin to develop during the colder months. It is a hardy plant, very resistant to both heat and cold, making its bulbs suitable for planting both in the garden and in pots. Although blue is the typical color of this plant, many species of Muscari offer flowers in various shades. Muscari are also commonly known as "grape hyacinths" because their flowers resemble those of the hyacinth.
