Scindapsus pictus ‘Trebie’, also commonly known as Devil’s Ivy or pothos, is a much-loved indoor plant valued for its lush trailing growth and effortless care. Originally native to tropical regions such as the Solomon Islands in the western Pacific, Scindapsus is perfectly adapted to warm and humid environments. In nature, it grows as a climber, using aerial roots to attach itself to trees, which makes it extremely versatile indoors. It can be displayed in a hanging basket, allowed to trail elegantly from a shelf, or trained to climb along a support.

The main attraction of Scindapsus pictus ‘Trebie’ is its heart-shaped foliage, rich green in colour and marked with distinctive silver-grey patterns. The leaves are slightly glossy and give the plant a refined, decorative appearance. It is an evergreen plant, remaining attractive throughout the year. Flowering indoors is very rare and not ornamental, and the plant is not fragrant and has no spines.

With a current height of around 15 cm and a 14 cm pot diameter, this plant is ideal for smaller spaces, desks or shelves. Over time, its trailing vines can reach 1 to 2 metres in length. Scindapsus thrives in partial sunlight or half-shade, adapting well even to low-light conditions, which makes it a popular choice for homes, offices and public spaces.

Watering should be done once a week, keeping the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. A well-draining soil mix, such as potting soil combined with perlite or sand, is essential for healthy roots. During the growing season, fertilising every 4–6 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser will support steady growth without overwhelming the plant.
