The Monstera deliciosa, commonly known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, is a favourite worldwide, renowned for its impressive size and dramatic, architectural leaves.

🌿 A Statement Tropical Climber

The Monstera deliciosa is native to the tropical rainforests of Central America, where it naturally climbs high into the canopy.

  • Foliage: The plant is beloved for its large, beautiful leaves, which are a deep, glossy green. They are instantly recognisable due to their unique natural cut-outs and holes, called fenestrations. These distinctive perforations give the plant its "Swiss Cheese" nickname and add a touch of elegance and a striking tropical vibe to any space. The plant is a tropical evergreen, retaining its beauty throughout the year.

  • Height: With a current height of approximately 105cm, this Monstera is already an impressive size and is sure to make a statement in any room. As a vigorous climbing vine, it can grow much taller, often reaching 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) indoors with proper support.

  • Flowering and Fragrance: The plant is grown exclusively for its decorative foliage. It very rarely flowers indoors, and the blooms are inconspicuous.

☀️ Care and Requirements

The Monstera is an excellent choice for new plant owners, as caring for a Monstera is easy and straightforward.

  • Light/Placement: Monstera plants prefer a spot in half-shade, making them versatile for various lighting conditions in your home. They thrive best in bright, indirect light. It is essential to protect the leaves from harsh, direct sunlight, which can cause scorching.

  • Watering: Water requirements are simple: allow the top layer of soil to dry out completely between waterings. The key is to avoid overwatering, which is the most common issue. Ensure the pot has excellent drainage.

Note: All parts of the Monstera deliciosa plant contain calcium oxalate crystals, making it toxic if ingested by humans or pets. Ingestion can cause immediate pain, burning, and swelling of the mouth and throat. It must be kept well out of reach.
