🌿 Coffee Plant, more formally known as Coffea arabica, is not just a beautiful houseplant — it’s also the very same species that produces the world’s most beloved beverage: coffee. With its glossy, deep green leaves, gently rippled along the edges, and upright, bushy growth, the Coffee Plant brings a lush, tropical feel to any indoor space. It's admired for its tidy structure and the way its leaves reflect light, adding life and vibrancy to shelves or tabletops 🌿.
☕ Coffee plants originally come from southern Africa and tropical Asia, but today the plant is found all over the world in warmer areas. The Arabica is the most commonly used plant for coffee beans: about 75-80%. After the third year, the plant will bloom. Red berries form from the flowers, in which two seeds grow: the coffee beans. Do not expect to be able to harvest coffee at home: this plant is especially fun to watch! 👁️
🌸 Under the right conditions and with a bit of patience, the Coffee Plant can produce small, fragrant white flowers, usually during spring or summer. These starry blooms have a sweet, jasmine-like scent and are followed by green berries that ripen to red — each one holding two coffee beans inside. While fruiting is rare indoors, the flowering stage alone is a delightful surprise.
📏 Typically grown as a compact indoor shrub, the Coffee Plant can eventually reach heights of up to 1 meter, but it’s a slow and steady grower. Upon arrival, it measures approximately 30 cm, already full of rich green leaves and ready to flourish with a little care and love.
💧 It prefers moderate watering — the soil should be kept lightly moist, especially during the growing season, but never soggy. Allow the top of the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. It appreciates good humidity levels, and misting the leaves occasionally can help mimic its native rainforest environment 💦.
☀️ The plant thrives in bright, indirect light, though it can tolerate some morning sun. Harsh midday rays can scorch its delicate leaves, so a spot with filtered light or near an east-facing window is ideal. Warmth and consistency are key to its happiness 🌞.
⚠️ Note: Coffea arabica is considered mildly toxic if ingested, particularly the beans and plant parts, which can be harmful to pets. It's best to keep it out of reach of curious cats and dogs 🌿🧤.
🪴 Format: Upon delivery, the plant has a height of approximately 30 cm (measured including the pot). It is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 12 cm.
