Description
The Ficus lyrata ‘Bambino’ is a compact and refined variety of the well-known fiddle-leaf fig, appreciated for its dense growth habit and glossy, deep-green foliage. Compared to the classic Ficus lyrata, the ‘Bambino’ has slightly smaller, thicker leaves and a more controlled, upright form, making it especially suitable for smaller indoor spaces while retaining the bold, sculptural look that has made this plant so popular.
This plant is grown for its foliage rather than for flowering. When cultivated indoors, it does not produce flowers or fruit, but its lush leaves provide year-round decorative value. It is an evergreen plant, maintaining its foliage throughout the seasons. In indoor conditions, the Ficus lyrata ‘Bambino’ generally reaches a maximum height of around 1–1.5 metres, remaining more compact and easier to manage than the standard variety.
The plant is sold with its decorative pot included, ready to be displayed immediately. It comes in an ELHO Vibes Fold pot in a warm yellow tone, characterised by its modern folded texture and soft matte finish. The cheerful colour of the pot creates a fresh contrast with the dark green leaves, adding a lively yet elegant accent to interiors such as living rooms, offices, or kitchens. The pot is lightweight, durable, and designed to complement contemporary décor styles.
In terms of care, the Ficus lyrata ‘Bambino’ prefers a bright position with indirect light or light partial shade. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it may scorch the leaves, while very low light can slow growth. The plant enjoys a warm, stable environment and should be kept away from cold drafts. Watering should be regular but moderate: allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, as overly wet soil can lead to root problems. A well-draining potting mix is essential. During the growing season, occasional feeding with a balanced liquid fertiliser helps support healthy foliage. Light misting can also be beneficial in dry indoor air.
This Ficus has no thorns or spines and is not fragrant, but it is valued for its elegant appearance and its contribution to a greener indoor atmosphere. It is often chosen as an ornamental houseplant for homes and offices, where it adds structure, colour, and a sense of calm.
Note: The Ficus lyrata ‘Bambino’ is toxic if ingested, and its sap may cause irritation, so it should be kept out of reach of pets and small children.
