Monstera adansonii is widely and affectionately known by its common name, the Monstera Monkey Leaf or Monkey Mask Plant. It has also earned the nickname Hole Plant because of the distinctive perforations in its foliage.

This is a set of two plants, making it excellent for adding volume or decorating separate spaces.

🐒 The Monkey Leaf Appeal

This vining plant is celebrated for its unique and highly decorative foliage. The leaves are smaller than the classic M. deliciosa, heart-shaped, and are covered in numerous large, natural holes that do not reach the leaf edge, giving them a whimsical, latticed appearance. The edges of the leaves are typically closed (not deeply split like the larger Swiss Cheese Plant), but the information notes that its edges are "also open," which can sometimes be seen in mature specimens or variants. The leaves are a vibrant, rich green. This plant is a tropical evergreen, keeping its lively look all year.

• Height: The current size of 30cm is compact. This is a vining plant that will grow quickly, either trailing elegantly from a shelf or climbing if provided with support. It can reach lengths of 3 to 5 feet (around 1 to 1.5 meters) or more indoors.

• Flowering and Fragrance: The Monstera adansonii is grown for its foliage. It rarely, if ever, flowers when kept as an indoor houseplant. When it does, the flowers are inconspicuous.

☀️ Care and Growth

The Monkey Leaf is native to Central and South American rainforests, where it climbs up trees.

• Light/Placement: Place the Monstera Monkey Leaf in a bright spot, but preferably not in direct sunlight. It thrives in bright, indirect light, which is ideal for maintaining its rich color and encouraging healthy growth. Direct sun will likely scorch the leaves.

• Watering: Water this houseplant at least once a week, adjusting based on the environment. The key is to check the soil first: you should water only when the potting soil feels slightly moist to the touch, or when the top inch or two has dried out. In summer, the plant will likely need more frequent watering.

• Humidity: Like all Monsteras, it appreciates high humidity.

Note: The Monstera adansonii (Monkey Leaf) contains calcium oxalate crystals, making it toxic if ingested by humans or pets. Ingestion can cause oral irritation, pain, and swelling. It should be placed out of reach of curious animals and children.
