🌸 Clematis 'Piilu' is a truly enchanting flowering vine that brings charm and a burst of colour to any garden setting. Often referred to as one of the “double-flowered clematis”, ‘Piilu’ is cherished for its abundant and unusually shaped blooms, making it a standout among climbers.

💐 This variety is particularly loved for its bicolor flowers, which typically appear in late spring and early summer, with a second, lighter flush later in the season. The first wave often showcases double pink blossoms with a deeper pink bar through each petal, while the later blooms tend to be single-flowered—both equally captivating. The long flowering season ensures a continuous show of delicate beauty for months.

🌿 ‘Piilu’ features lush green, deciduous foliage, which offers a soft backdrop to the vibrant flowers. The leaves are divided and create a gentle, airy texture that enhances the romantic appeal of this plant. While it doesn’t climb aggressively, it reaches a manageable height and works wonderfully on trellises, obelisks, fences, or even in large containers.

📏 The plant typically matures to a height of around 150–200 cm, though at the time of delivery, it stands at approximately 70 cm, making it ideal for early training on a support structure or decorative feature.

☀️ Clematis 'Piilu' prefers a sunny to partially shaded position, with its roots kept cool and shaded—an old gardener’s tip is to “let the head be in the sun, and the feet in the shade.” A well-draining, fertile soil is essential, and it appreciates regular watering, especially during dry periods and the blooming season. With gentle pruning (classified as Group 2), it will continue to perform reliably year after year.
