Parthenocissus tricuspidata ‘Veitch Boskoop’ is a vigorous climbing plant, widely appreciated for its dense foliage and spectacular autumn colors. Commonly known as Boston Ivy, this variety is perfect for covering walls, trellises, fences, or pergolas, adding both greenery and seasonal interest. With a height of around 65 cm in its early stage and planted in a 15 cm diameter pot, it will quickly establish itself and grow vigorously under suitable conditions.

This plant produces small, inconspicuous green flowers in late spring to early summer, which later give way to small blue-black berries that attract birds. Its main appeal lies in its glossy, three-lobed leaves, which are deep green through spring and summer and turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and purple in the fall, creating a stunning display.

Parthenocissus tricuspidata ‘Veitch Boskoop’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-draining soil. Regular watering during the establishment phase helps it grow strong, though it becomes relatively drought-tolerant once mature. This variety is deciduous, shedding its leaves in winter, and it climbs using adhesive tendrils, without thorns, making it easy to train along surfaces.

Note: While not highly toxic, ingestion of leaves or berries may cause mild discomfort in pets or children, so caution is advised.

This Boston Ivy cultivar is ideal for gardeners looking to add vertical greenery and dramatic seasonal color to their outdoor spaces.
