The Rubus fruticosus ‘Thornless Evergreen’ is a vigorous, thornless blackberry climbing plant that combines ease of harvesting with delicious, nutrient-rich fruit, making it ideal for family-friendly gardens. As a Tasty Green, 100% organically grown plant, it is cultivated using only natural plant and animal materials, and comes in a pot and label made from recycled plastic, offering an eco-conscious solution for gardeners. This variety is particularly appreciated for its lack of thorns, allowing children and adults alike to enjoy picking the berries safely and comfortably.

In late spring, during May and June, the plant produces small, delicate white flowers that attract pollinators and herald the forthcoming harvest. The fruits begin green, turn red, and finally develop into a deep, glossy purple-black when fully ripe, ready for picking from August right through to the first frosts. Sweet and packed with minerals, these blackberries are perfect for fresh eating, desserts, or preserves. The plant thrives in a sunny location, and the more sunlight it receives, the more abundant the harvest will be.

‘Thornless Evergreen’ is a deciduous climber that can be trained along a pergola, trellis, or fence, reaching several metres in height if supported. Regular watering during dry periods and pruning after fruiting will help maintain its shape and encourage strong growth and future yields.

Note: Only the berries are edible; other parts of the plant are not considered safe to eat.
