Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’, often referred to as Devil’s Ivy or satin pothos, is a popular and highly decorative indoor plant that brings a fresh, natural touch to any interior. Native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, it naturally grows in warm, humid forests where it climbs trees using its aerial roots.

This plant is especially admired for its heart-shaped leaves, which are deep green and elegantly patterned with silvery markings that give them a soft, satin-like sheen. The foliage is evergreen, ensuring year-round visual appeal. Flowering indoors is extremely rare and not decorative, and the plant is not fragrant and has no spines.

In its natural habitat, Scindapsus uses its aerial roots to cling to surfaces and absorb nutrients, which makes it very versatile in the home. It can be grown as a trailing plant in hanging baskets, allowed to cascade from shelves, or trained to climb a support or trellis. Over time, it can reach 1 to 2 metres in length, while this plant, supplied in a 14 cm pot with a current height of around 15 cm, is ideal for smaller spaces and easy placement.

Scindapsus thrives best in half-shade or bright, indirect light, adapting well to lower light conditions. Watering should be done about once a week, allowing the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. A well-draining soil mix, such as potting soil combined with perlite, helps keep the roots healthy. Feeding once a month during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser supports lush, vibrant growth.

Thanks to its low-maintenance nature and air-purifying qualities, Scindapsus is a favourite indoor plant for both beginners and experienced plant lovers. Delivered in an ornamental pot, it offers an effortless way to enhance your living space with long-lasting greenery.

Note: Scindapsus is toxic if ingested, so it should be kept out of reach of pets and small children.
