Description
Clematis ‘Jackmanii’ is a classic and much-loved climbing plant, supplied as four plants in 15 cm pots with a height of approximately 65 cm. Known for its deep purple-blue flowers, this clematis blooms beautifully from July to September, bringing a rich splash of color to the garden throughout the summer months.
The flowers are medium-sized and strikingly shaped, giving the plant great ornamental value. Their velvety texture and deep hue make them stand out against the plant’s lush green foliage, adding elegance and vibrancy to pergolas, fences, trellises, or racks. Clematis ‘Jackmanii’ is a hardy variety, perfectly capable of enduring cold winters — even the Dutch winter — and returning each year with vigorous new growth.
For best results, it should be pruned at the end of winter, cutting it back to about 30 cm above the ground. This encourages rich and abundant flowering while maintaining a healthy, compact plant structure. When training it to climb along a rack, wall, or fence, it benefits from a bit of support — gently tying the new shoots or weaving them through the structure helps guide its growth.
This clematis thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil. It is thornless, easy to handle, and, while not fragrant, its spectacular flowers make it an undeniable garden highlight.
Note: Clematis plants can be mildly toxic if ingested, so they should be kept out of reach of pets and children.
With its stunning purple-blue blooms, hardy nature, and long flowering season, Clematis ‘Jackmanii’ is a timeless favorite that adds elegance and color to any garden space.
