Description
Campsis ‘Summer Jazz Fire Trumpet’ is a vibrant and vigorous climbing plant, supplied as two plants in 15 cm pots with a height of approximately 65 cm. This variety, also known as a Chinese trumpet vine, is prized for its stunning red trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom abundantly in late summer, especially when exposed to plenty of sunlight.
Unlike other Campsis in the Summer Jazz series, this red-flowered variety grows more compactly, reaching up to 3 metres in height, and often tends to form a shrub if not guided. For those who wish to create a climbing display, it is recommended to provide a climbing frame at the beginning of its growth. Campsis ‘Summer Jazz Fire Trumpet’ is a self-adhesive climber, producing small adhesive roots from its branches that allow it to attach naturally to walls, fences, or trellises.
The foliage is lush and green, providing an attractive backdrop to the vivid red blooms. This plant prefers full sun and well-draining soil and benefits from regular watering, especially during dry spells. It is deciduous, losing its leaves in winter, and has no thorns, making it safe to handle. The flowers are not notably fragrant, but their bold color and shape make a dramatic visual impact in gardens or on vertical structures.
Note: Campsis is generally non-toxic but may cause mild skin irritation in sensitive individuals, so gloves are recommended during handling.
With its fiery flowers, climbing ability, and winter-hardiness, Campsis ‘Summer Jazz Fire Trumpet’ is ideal for creating eye-catching vertical displays or lush, flowering shrubs in sunny garden areas.
