Wisteria sinensis 'Prolific' also known as wisteria is a climbing plant with beautiful, very long, blue-purple coloured flower clusters that appear en masse in May-June. There may also be an after flowering in September. It is a fast-growing climber that can reach a maximum height of 10 metres. To keep the wisteria in the best possible shape, it is best to lead it along a pergola, fence or rack. Make sure there is a sturdy support, to which the branches are attached so that it can climb towards the sun. It is also important to prune the plant regularly during its growth or in early spring. Prune preferably twice a year.
