Description
The Vitis vinifera ‘Johanniter’ is an elegant and versatile white grape vine, perfect for gardeners seeking delicious, organically grown fruit with minimal fuss. This variety is particularly prized for its natural resistance to fungal diseases, thanks to a careful crossing of Riesling with other disease-resistant grape varieties. The result is a vine that not only thrives in a home garden but also produces fruit capable of yielding Riesling-like wines, full of fruitiness and muscatel notes.
‘Johanniter’ develops as a vigorous climbing plant, capable of reaching several metres in height. With careful pruning, it can be trained into a variety of shapes, allowing gardeners to create compact forms or guide it along pergolas, trellises, or tensioned wires on walls. In midsummer, from July to August, the vine produces small, inconspicuous clusters of flowers. These quickly give way to beautiful white-green grape bunches, juicy and sweet, ideal for eating fresh, juicing, making jams, or even producing your own home-crafted wine.
The vine’s deciduous foliage provides a lush, green backdrop during the growing season, adding both ornamental and functional appeal to your garden. As an organically grown plant, only natural plant and animal materials are used during cultivation. In keeping with environmentally conscious gardening, both the pot and label are made from recycled plastic, offering a sustainable solution for your green space.
Note: The grapes are edible and safe to consume; other parts of the vine are not intended for eating.
